Abstract
Abstract

The present study was aimed at developing and evaluating fast disintegrating tablets of Granisetron HCl using natural superdisintegrants like Plantago ovata, gum karaya and agar and synthetic superdisintegrants like Indion 234, croscaramellose sodium and crospovidone in different concentration. Fast disintegrating tablets were prepared by direct compression method. Effect of superdisintegrants on wetting, disintegration and dissolution parameters were studied. Fast disintegrating tablets were characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC). Preformulation studies were found as per literature limits. Drug was compatible with superdisintegrants. The prepared tablets were evaluated for weight variation, thickness, hardness, friability, in vitro dispersion time, wetting time, in vitro disintegration time, drug content and in vitro drug release. Results revealed that Formulation F2 containing 5% of Plantago ovata shown disintegration time of 17.10 sec and the drug release was up to 99.66% in 3 minutes. In vitro disintegration time decreases with increase in concentration of all superdisintegrants. Hence the present study revealed that this natural super disintegrants like Plantago ovata, gum karaya and agar showed better release than the most widely used synthetic superdisintegrants like Indion 234, crospovidone, Croscaramellose sodium in the formulations of FDTs.

Abstract
Abstract

Biofilm-associated infections are persistent and difficult to treat due to the multifactorial antimicrobial resistance.1 Sugar alcohols have a significant inhibitory effect on dental biofilms.2-4 They can reduce the amount of dental plaque and the extracellular polysaccharide (glucans) and intracellular matrix production.5 The interference with the production of glucans could decrease the extracellular matrix component of mixed oral biofilms.

Abstract
Abstract

The fundus images is manually graded by the specialized clinicians which is very time consuming resource intensive process, so the motivation behind the work is to provide immediate detection and characterization of retinal feature before the specialist inspection. Optical nerve head provide an important anatomical landmark in analysis of retinal disease such as Glaucoma detection, measurement of vessel tortuosity and exudates region and for the screening programs for diabetic retinopathy of prematurity in fundus image of eyes. It is also important landmark to identify the other anatomical parts such as fovea, blood vessels (as it provides the starting point) and other task. The ONH is the entry point for the optical nerves and blood vessel supplying the retina so the center is the point of convergence of main blood vessels .It is present on the nasal side of fundus image .In normal eye it is the brightest, slightly oval disk measuring about 2mm in diameter. The approach used here is based on the detection of vascular tree as a source of reference to locate the ONH. Here after doing the basic preprocessing, in order to detect the vascular tree the resultant is fed to the gabor wavelet. Gabor functions are sinusoidally modulated Gaussian functions that provide optimal localization in both the frequency and space domains. The resultant is then applied to local mean filter of size 30X30. The pixel returning highest intensity value is considered as ONH. This method gave 100% result when applied to DRIVE database and 61.7% when applied to STARE database.

Abstract
Abstract

Power factor correction of high frequency switch mode power supply and its application in dc motor speed control is presented in this thesis. A high step-down transformer less single- stage single-switch ac/dc converter is designed. The topology integrates a buck-type power-factor correction (PFC) cell with a buck–boost dc/dc cell for output voltage regulation. It is a one-stage one-switch AC/DC converter which steps down the voltage without a ransformer. It combines a buck type PFC cell with a buck-boost type DC/DC cell. Two capacitors are sharing the voltage. Part of the input power is directly coupled to the output. With the above features it is able to achieve a high power factor, efficient power conversion, low intermediate bus voltage less than 130V and low output voltage without a transformer. This reduces the cost and size. Finally a DC motor load is applied and simulation results are presented..Simulation is done in MATLAB/SIMULINK.

Abstract
Abstract

Data sharing and gathering is very important concern in wireless communication. In my view there is several important concerns the wireless communication missing. First there is the need of clustering so that we can provide proper data categorization. Need of secure data transmission applying some encryption and decryption technique. Considering the above view we have proposed Rivest Cipher (RC) base data encryption and clustering. This method provides data protection by RC and also provides inner and outer cluster combination with the help of K-means clustering technique. The above approach is also justified by our results.
