Abstract
The present study was undertaken to design and evaluate bilayer tablets of ciprofloxacin hydrochloride containing an immediate release layer and a mucoadhesive extended release layer. Tablets were prepared by direct compression method using Carbopol 934P, Hydroxylpropylmethylcellulose -15 cps (HPMC-15cps), Methocel K4M and Sodium Carboxymethylcellulose (Na-CMC) as mucoadhesive polymer. All the formulations showed uniform weight, thickness, crushing strength and content uniformity. Tablets were evaluated by mucoadhesive strength, ex-vivo residence time and in vitro drug release profile. Methocel K4M, HPLC-15 cps and Carbopol 934P based formulation (F-3, F-2 and F-1) showed maximum mucoadhesive strength (74.5 gm to 61.81 gm). Ex vivo residence time was 8.5 hr for F-3 and 6.75 hr for F-1. Time required for 100% drug release from F-1, F-2, F-3 and F-4 were 5 hr, 3 hr, 7 hr and 3 hr respectively. Release profile was compared with a commercial ciprofloxacin tablet. Higher sustained drug release was found in all formulations than the commercial product.

Abstract
The study of free radicals and antioxidants in biology is producing medical revolution that promises a new age of health and disease management. The present study was performed to evaluate the in vitro antioxidant effect of the ethanolic extract of Mimosa pudica (Mimosaceae) against free radical damage by different standard methods such as DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl), Nitric Oxide (NO), ABTS (2,2'-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulphonic acid)) and Hydrogen peroxide free radical model. The test extract exhibited significant inhibition in Nitric oxide and DPPH free radical formation with IC50 values of 78.1±1.75 and 35.00±1.15 µg/ml respectively. Whereas in the cases of ABTS and Hydrogen peroxide free radicals IC50 values of 81.00±3.85 and 449.60±2.55 µg/ml. Out of these four free radicals the extract showed potent activity on Nitric oxide and DPPH, which is compared to that of ascorbic acid and rutin taken as standards.
Colon Targeted Drug Delivery Systems – A Review
Authors: Akhil Gupta, Anuj Mittal, Alok Kumar Gupta
Abstract
Day by day there are new developments in field of colon specific drug delivery system. Colonic drug delivery has gained increased importance not just for the delivery of the drugs for the treatment of local diseases associated with the colon like Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, etc. but also for the systemic delivery of proteins, therapeutic peptides, anti-asthmatic drugs, antihypertensive drugs and anti-diabetic agents. New systems and technologies have been developed for colon targeting and to overcome pervious method’s limitations. Colon targeting holds a great potential and still need more innovative work. This review article discusses, in brief, introduction of colon, factor effecting colonic transition, colonic diseases and the novel and emerging technologies for colon targeting.
Experimental Investigation of TIG Welding for Stainless Steel using Design of Experiment
Author: R. B. Mandavia
Abstract
Gas tungsten arc welding is a fusion welding process having broad application in industry. In this experiment selected three process parameters like current, groove angle and welding speed and range was decide for each parameters by trial and error method and distortion was the output parameters. To perform the experiment on TIG welding L27 orthogonal array has been used and based on that according to each run set experiment has performed and optimization run set was found. By Taguchi analysis and also find the regression equation for same experiment.
Magnetic Properties of Zn-Ti Substituted BaFe12O19

Abstract
Barium hexaferrite BaFe12O19, is a ferrimagnetic substance. Its magnetic properties are mainly due to the particular site distribution of Fe ions in it. The Fe3+ ions in BaFe12O19, were partially substituted by Zn2+ and Ti4+ ions. This paper reports the study of the magnetic properties of the compound BaFe10ZnTiO19 synthesized using the solid state diffusion method. X-Ray diffraction (XRD) study confirmed the magnetoplumbite (M) structure for the sample and was found to have a single crystalline phase. Magnetic properties are studied with the help of Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM). Magnetization (M) is plotted against applied magnetic field (H) at room temperature which shows decrease in saturation magnetization (Ms), Coercivity (Hc) and remnant Magnetization (Mr) in the doped sample.
