Studies on Phytochemical, Proximate and Antioxidant Potential of Halodule Pinifolia
Authors: S. Jenita Gnana Mary, R. Bharathidasan, V. Ramamurthy
Abstract
Seagrasses have a long history of being used for a variety of remedial purposes, such as treatment of fever, skin diseases, muscle pains, wounds and stomach problems. Hence it is essential to study their bioactive metabolites and medicinal properties when considering their food applications. The present study was designed to evaluate the antioxidant potential of different extract of Halodule pinifolia. The free radical scavenging activities of the seagrass were evaluated by various in vitro methods. Phytochemical screening revealed the presence of carbohydrates, reducing sugars, alkaloids, saponins, phenolic compounds and flavonoids in aqueous seagrass extract. The antioxidant activity determination revealed that at 100 µg/ml, that seagrass extract had the highest antioxidant activity on DPPH free radicals. This study suggests that H. pinifolia extracts exhibit great potential for antioxidant activity and may be useful for their nutritional and medicinal functions.
A Comprehensive Review of Therapeutic Agents Used in the Treatment of Recurrent Aphthous Ulcer and Oral Ulcers in Bechet’s Syndrome
Authors: Sheshaprasad R, Anuradha Pai
Abstract
Recurrent aphthous ulcer (RAU) is a common oral disease characterized by ulcers with an erythematous halo, affecting 5–25% of the general population. The underlying etiology is not clear, but several factors are believed to be responsible for the pathogenesis of the disease including stress, hormones, genetic factors etc. Behcet'ssyndrome is a multisystem disorder involving vasculitis of small and medium-sized vessels and inflammation of the epithelium, characterized by recurring oral and genital ulcers with eye lesions.
Antibiotic Dosages and Abuse in Dentistry
Authors: Aditi Sharma, Akshat Sachdeva, Sumit Bhateja, Geetika Arora
Abstract
Dental health care professionals prescribe antimicrobial agents for conditions both therapeutically and prophylactically. These antimicrobials are given prophylactically before dental procedures, during treatments, after treatment or as the only form of treatment. . Many patients going through the hardship of dental pain visit the dentist only to get a prescription for the same which is very often inclusive of an antimicrobial agent without getting any treatment done. In developing countries like India, where law regarding the prescription of antimicrobials is not very strong or is not strongly implemented, people just visit a neighborhood pharmaceutical store to purchase medicines over the counter for dental pain, which again includes antimicrobial agents. This cycle is repeated numerous times before the person finally decides to get definitive dental treatment done. The present article focuses on Antibiotic usages & abuses in dental practice.
A Survey on Shortest Path Routing Algorithm for Roadmap Applications
Authors: R. Prema, Dr. A. Marimuthu
Abstract
Many interesting route planning problems can be solved by computing shortest paths in a suitably modelled and weighted graph by representing a transportation network. Such networks are naturally road networks or time table networks of public transportation. For large networks, the classical algorithm used to compute shortest paths is too slow. And therefore, faster algorithms have been developed in recent years. These new algorithms have in common that they use precipitation and store auxiliary data to speedup subsequent shortest-path queries. A comparison was done by implementing three shortest path finding algorithms such as Particle swarm optimization, Dijkstra’s Algorithm and Rapidly Exploring Roadmap Algorithm. Finally, the best shortest Path routing algorithm is to be found based on the results of the execution time.
A Study on Risk and Return Analysis on Pharmaceutical Company
Authors: S. Phani Kumar, K. Neeraja
Abstract
Risk and return analysis plays a key role in most individual decision making process. Every investor wants to avoid risk and maximize return. In general, risk and return go hand. If an investor wishes to earn higher returns than the investor must appreciate that this will only be achieved by accepting a commensurate increase in risk. based on risk and return analysis, high risk gives high returns with low risk gives to low returns, based on this concept in banking and automobiles sector high risk gives low return, and information technology ,fast moving consumer goods pharmaceutical sector low risk gives high return. Alpha stock is positive and the companies are independent to market return and have a profitable return.
An Enhanced Multi Biometric Recognition System
Authors: Dharisanapriya R, Rukumani khandhan C
Abstract
Biometric recognition techniques are mainly used for human identification and authentication.A comprehensive approach for multi biometric recognition is designed by fusion of finger vein and sclera vein.Sclera vein and finger vein is a new parallel vein recognition method using a two-stage parallel approach for registration and matching. The proposed method can achieve dramatic processing speed improvement without compromising the recognition accuracy. The proposed approach combines finger vein approach and sclera vein approach. The frequency based approach is used to achieve the combination of both approaches which is based on identical biometric vector. Two new score-level combinations, holistic and nonlinear fusion is to be developed and investigated, then comparatively evaluate with more popular score-level fusion approaches to ascertain their effectiveness in the proposed system. The process offers a state-of-the-art advancement of multi biometrics, offering an originalviewpoint on features fusion. Consecutively, a hamming-distance-based matching algorithm deals with the combined homogenous biometric vector. Thus, the multimodal system achieves interesting results with several commonly used databases.
An IoT Based Appliance Control and Monitoring System for Smart Homes
Authors: Sangeetha C, Gomathi R, Anne Ramya T
Abstract
Recent years the smart home has been accepted and used in home environment widely. In this paper, we propose a smart home is challenging of remote access and control monitoring system which supports data transmission. A smart home is also one of the applications of IoT. Rapid growth in technologies and improvements in architecture comes out many problems that how to manage and control the whole system, Security at the server, security in smart homes, etc. In an approach to incorporate strong security in deploying IoT for smart home system, together with due consideration given to user convenience in operating the system. A GPRS gateway is used as the center node of the system to perform the system initial configuration. It is then responsible for authenticating the communication between the IoT devices as well as providing a mean for the user to setup, access and control the system through an Website and Android based mobile device running appropriate application program.
