Abstract
Abstract

In video surveillance and realistic security, video based human re-identification plays a paramount aspect. Here, we proffer an eXtended Center-Symmetric version of local binary pattern (XCS-LBP) description for background modelling and subduction in videos and also uses scale invariant factor transform algorithm helps us to find out and extract shape difference regions and their location. Using those features we can re- identify person. Extensive researches are handle on two criterion public re-identification datasets including SDALF and SARC3D clearly shows that the intended schema for human re-identification using background subtraction and SIFT aspect fulfill the state of the art for video based re-identification significantly

Abstract
Abstract

Bone is a dynamic organ made up of mostly collagen that provides the structure to the skeleton and calcium phosphate that gives strength and hardens the skeleton structure. Bone is constantly renewed by remodeling, a lifelong process consisting of bone resorption (osteoclasts) and formation (osteoblasts) to repair skeletal damage and maintain calcium homeostasis. Several hormones like calcitonin, parathyroid hormone, vitamin D, estrogen, testosterone etc. regulate resorption and formation. Several factors like age, low diet calcium, smoking, certain medications, - glucorticoids, aromatase inhibitors, proton pump inhibitors, immunosuppressant, selective serotonin inhibitors and antiepileptic drugs can influence bone health which are used for long term treatment. Imaging techniques like dual X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA), Quantitative computerized tomography (QCT) are available for exact measurement of bone mineral density which helps identifying the fracture risk. Newly, bone biomarkers are known to increase their demand and play an important role in detection of bone loss at early stage. Recent evidence suggests that these markers may be useful in monitoring the response to anti-resorptive therapy. The potential for these markers used along with imaging techniques helps to diagnose bone loss, possibly prior to overt clinical signs. Hence, the aim of the article was to review the diagnosis of bone loss using specific bone biomarkers which can strongly correlate to these classes of drugs causing bone loss at early stage with possible duration of the treatment.

DOI: 13.3765/je-2025-409
Abstract
Abstract

The present study was designed to evaluate the antidepressant and anti-inflammatory activity of “Curcuma aromatica” oil and “Curcuma aromatica” extract using different animal models. Antidepressant activity was evaluated by using various animal models. The degree of antidepressant activity was determined by measuring the immobility time in forced swim test and tail suspension tests. Anti-inflammatory activity was evaluated using Carrageenan induced paw edema model. Animals treated with all three doses of CAO (250,500 and 750mg/kg) witnessed a decrease in their immobility times in FST and TST which was significant when compared with control. Similarly, animals treated with Imipramine (15mg/kg), as expected showed a significant decrease in the immobility time. Carrageenan induced paw edema model was employed to evaluate the anti-inflammatory activity of ethanolic extract of “Curcuma aromatica”. Carrageenan induced paw edema model uses change in paw volume of control, test, and standard respectively to find out percentage inhibition of edema .The study revealed that the “Curcuma aromatica” rhizome oil possess a significant antidepressant and anti-inflammatory activity.

Herb - Drug Interactions

Authors: Baravkar A A, Sawant S D, Bhise S B, Dhabale P N

Article Type: Research Article
Published: February 2025

DOI: 13.3765/je-2025-410
Abstract
Abstract

Herbal medicinal products (HMPs) are widely used all over the world because of their ready availability, consideration as safe to use and lack of medical consultation. But, it is proved that interaction can occur between HMPs with western medicine, other HMPs, alcohol and food. It should be noted that not all HMPs can interact with western medicines and vice versa and the interaction may be synergistic or antagonistic. So, health care professionals and pharmacists have to play an important role in giving advisory knowledge on and monitoring concurrent use of herbal and conventional medicines and to collect the data for suspected herb drug interactions.
