Wound Care Behavior Among the Population - A Survey
Authors: Shikha Sanoria, Zulfkar Latief Qadrie, Surya Prakash Gautam
Abstract
Objective: Wound care behavior among the population. Methods: An observational survey was conducted randomly among different college students and the general population of all age groups having different professions. Survey questionnaires were prepared on google form and responses were collected by online mode. The form was designed to know the self-medication behavior among the population. Results: The total number of participants was 332. Out of which female participants were dominated 174(52.4%) and male participants were 158(47.59%). The survey revealed that 58.73% of participants took doctor’s advice, 33.73% took self-medication, 4.22% took healthcare worker advice and, 3.31% took any other advice for treatment. Conclusion: The survey revealed that although most of the population took doctor’s advice for the treatment of wounds but yet there is a significant population (33.73%) who took self-medication for this treatment, which should be minimized by providing awareness among them. Most of the wounds were healed within 10 d. Most of the population took medication (analgesic, antibiotic) for treatment. The use of antibiotics by self- medication is a matter of concern nowadays. As a global threat is antibiotic resistance. These drugs should be prescribed under medical supervision.
Performance of Spatial Modulation with Multiple Active Transmit Antennas
Authors: Karthika V. Nair, Poorna R. Prabhu
Abstract
In this paper, a generalized spatial modulation scheme with multiple active transmit antennas, as an alternative to Space Time Block Code, Vertical Bell Lab Layered Space Time etc. named as Multiple Active Spatial Modulation is introducing. This system will achieve high diversity, high transmission rate and multiplexing gain. Since the system is activating only a minimum number of antennas, thereby it can optimize by maximizing the inter-symbol distance and hence reduce the inter channel interference and inter antenna interference. A near optimal maximum likelihood decoding is proposed to reduce the decoding complexity. In this paper, the SER performance between Multiple Active Spatial modulation and Space Time Block Code was simulated. Also using QPSK modulation Multiple Active Spatial Modulation was compared with Vertical Bell Lab Layered Space Time, Space Time Block Code and Generalized Spatial Modulation.

Authors: U. Kruthika, M. Sudhasree, J. Mounika, N. Tandava Krishna, M. Divya, A. Rajani, G. Ravi
Abstract
Objective: To study the effects of medication reconciliation and patient counseling on the overall health benefits of the patients in the department of gastroenterology. Methods: This study is a prospective interventional study, was conducted in a 500 bedded MNR Hospital. The sample size taken was 150 patients and the study population comprised of patients aged 18-80 y, admitted in the hospital during the study period of six months. Results: Out of 150 patients, there were 98 (65.33%) male patients and 52 (34.67%) female patients. Patients between 18 and 30 y of age were 29(19.33%), between the age of 30 and 50 y were 71 (47.33%) and above 50 were 50(33.33%). Pancreatitis was most prevalent with 21% of total prevalence, followed by CLD and cholelithiasis with 17%, then IBD 16%, PUD and Gastritis 5%, GERD 4% and other diseases 15%. Conclusion: The basic role of the pharmacist, is to help in minimizing the errors and to perform medication reconciliation. In patient counseling, pharmacists provide information about the disease, and the medications to increase patient safety and the changes in the behavior for the better outcome.
Pharmacological and Phytochemical Evidences for the Plants of Wedelia Genus– A Review
Authors: AK Meena, MM Rao, P Panda
Abstract
The scientific basis for the statement that plants and their active constituents play an important role in the prevention diseases is continuously advancing. In fact the origin of many therapeutic substances from the genus Wedelia. It is an interesting source of potential bioactive molecules, as iridoids compounds, flavonoids, diterpenoids derivatives, phytosteroids, with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, Hepatoprotective activity, analgesic and antihistamine ,Anti-implantation, antiasthmatic activities and anticancer activity. This work reviews the pharmacological evidence of extracts of plants from the genus Wedelia, giving an overview of the most studied biological effects and the known phytochemical composition. Although more studies are necessary, Wedelia exhibits proven potential to become of important pharmacological interest.

Authors: D. Saha, G.L. Ghindora, U.K. Dhirehe, S.K. Pahari, D. Sur, T. Maity, S. Kayal
Abstract
The leaves of Lippia alba (fam. Verbenaceae) were studied to fix the parameters for pharmacognostical standards. The results of organoleptic study offer a scientific basis for the use of Lippia alba which possesses characters like green colour, strong aromatic odour and aromatic taste. The fluorescence analysis under visible light & under UV light by treatment with different chemical reagents showed different colour changes. The presence of flavonoids, steroids, tannins, saponins and reducing sugars was confirmed during preliminary phytochemical screening. Eco-friendly, flora, degenerative disease, bio-friendly, fluorescence analysis. Medicinal plants have been a major source of cure for human diseases since time immemorial. It is no wonder that the world’s one-fourth population i.e. 1.42 billion people, are dependent on traditional medicines for the treatment of various ailments 1. Medicinal herbs are moving from fringe to main stream use with a greater number of people seeking remedies and health approaches free from side effects caused by synthetic chemicals. Recently, considerable attention has been paid to utilize eco-friendly and bio-friendly plant based products for the prevention and cure of different human diseases. Considering the adverse effects of synthetic drugs, the Western population is looking for natural remedies, which are safe and effective.
