A Cyber-Physical System Approach for Photovoltaic Array Monitoring and Control
Authors: Jensa johny, Anooja balan
Abstract
In this paper, we describe a Cyber-Physical system approach to Photovoltaic (PV) array control. A machine learning and computer vision framework is proposed for improving the reliability of utility scale PV arrays by leveraging video analysis of local skyline imagery, customized machine learning methods for fault detection, and monitoring devices that sense data and actuate at each individual panel. Our approach promises to improve efficiency in renewable energy systems using cyberenabled sensory analysis and fusion.

Multiple Resource Management in Cloud Computing
Authors: Dr.K.Sridharan, Mr.R.Gnanasekar
Abstract
Cloud computing technology is used to share computational resources under the cloud resource providers. The cloud nodes use the shared resources. Cloud computing is Internet-based computing to share resources, software and information. Both transactional and long-running analytic computations are comprised into workloads. Scientific simulations to multi-tier transactional applications are referred as workloads. Resources are provided with reference to the category of the workload. Transactional workloads are managed using flow control, load balancing and application placement. Non-interactive workloads need scheduling and resource control. Common virtualization control mechanisms are used to manage mix of transactional and batch workloads. Relative Performance Functions (RPFs) are used to permit trade-offs between different workloads. Application placement controller (APC) provides the decision-making logic for placement of both web and non- interactive workloads. Placement optimizer is tuned to provide dynamic placement for web applications. Placement algorithm with placement control loop is used to place jobs in the server. Transactional and batch workload based resource allocation is provided in the autonomic workload management system. Placement algorithm with placement control loop is improved to manage low level and high level resources. Data retrieval rate is integrated with the placement process.
Multiple Fault Diagnosis of Motorcycles based on Acoustic Approach
Authors: Veerappa B. Pagi, Ramesh S. Wadawadagi
Abstract
Several models have been proposed for fault detection and diagnosis in motorcycles based on acoustic signals. Motorcycles produce sound signals with varying temporal and spectral properties under different working conditions. These sounds can be the source of information for automatic diagnosis of faults. However, these models are not capable of assessing multiple faults. This paper attempts to diagnose multiple faults in motorcycles using two-stage approach. During first stage the model identifies the vehicle is healthy or faulty. If vehicle is observed as faulty, the second stage identifies the major faults present. The distribution of energies, in the first five subbands of wavelet packet decomposition is used as features. A two-stage ANN classifier is deployed for recognition of faults in the fused fault signatures. The recognition accuracy is over 78% when trained with individual fault signatures and over 88% when trained with combined signatures.
AC-AC Resonant Boost Converter for Domestic Induction heating with Reduced Total Harmonic Distortion
Authors: Biji. G, Vidyalakshmi. P
Abstract
Domestic induction hobs have been becoming increasingly popular, due to its specific features of safety, cleanliness, quick warming and high efficiency. Some of these features derive of the fact that the heating is directly generated in the vessel, unlike the traditional contact heating methods. Specially, the later feature is attracting the attention of researchers devoted to highly efficient power electronic systems. Domestic induction heating technology requires specific features such as high output power levels in a reduced enclosure, large load variation, and reduced cost with high efficiency. Domestic induction appliances require power converters that feature high efficiency and accurate power control in a wide range of operating conditions. In order to achieve this aim, an ac– ac boost resonant converter is proposed in this paper. The main features of this proposal are the improved efficiency, reduced component count, proper output power control and reduced Total harmonic distortion (THD). With the addition of a passive filter circuit, input current total harmonic distortion can be decreased. Converter design procedure is also analyzed. And an experimental setup has been carried out.
